Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. When she moved to Oxfordshire when she was five, Emma enrolled at The Dragon School. Emma was aspired to be a professional actress from the age of aged six. She was enrolled at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford which is an acting academy which offers classes for part-time students. By the time she turned 10 years old, Emma took part in numerous Stagecoach productions and plays. Casting began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after auditions of 8. They were selected as three leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's debut on the big screen came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. It set records on the opening weekend and numbers, and was the top-grossing 2001 film. Reviewers have been highly lauding the film as well as the performance by three young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British newspaper, was awed by her for her performance. Emma's performance was recognized and won five awards later for the movie.
